The head of the food importers, Hani Bahsali, confirmed that "the pricing in major companies has not exceeded 40,000 Lebanese Liras, and the talk about pricing based on 47,000 is incorrect." Bahsali added in an interview with MTV that "the price confusion will continue until the official exchange rate is unified," and he continued, "A large portion of food products may see their prices increase by 15 to 20 percent from what they are today when the customs dollar is raised, and our efforts to exempt them from customs have not yet yielded results."
