The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Friday that it had carried out what it described as high-precision missile strikes on reserve units of the Ukrainian army during the night to prevent them from reaching the front lines of battles. Ukrainian authorities reported that the strikes were widespread, marking the first of their kind conducted by Russia in about two months, resulting in the deaths of at least 17 people, including children. The Ukrainian army stated that it shot down 21 out of 23 cruise missiles launched by Russia.
