Experiments to Study the Effects of Weightlessness on the Body

The Institute of Biological and Medical Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences is preparing to launch a series of physiological experiments that will last for 21 days. The aim of these experiments is to study the effects of weightlessness on the human body, particularly on the musculoskeletal system, sensory-motor system, cardiovascular system, immune system, as well as microbiological studies and psychological-physiological research. The total number of studies will amount to 30 different investigations. It is noted that the experiments simulate a weightlessness condition in a ground-based model. The institute's medical expert committee has chosen volunteers from among Russian citizens; they are healthy men aged between 25 and 40 years, with a height not exceeding 190 centimeters and a weight not exceeding 85 kilograms. Participants will engage in the experiments for 6 weeks, and for two days before and two days after the experiment, they will be on the experimental platform under the supervision of a rotating team of doctors and experts.
