Amazon Commits to Investments in India

Amazon.com CEO Andy Jassy addressed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their meeting on Friday, stating, "The company will invest an additional $15 billion in India." He added that "the investment will raise the total value of the e-commerce giant's investments across all sectors in India to $26 billion by 2030." An Amazon blog post indicated that Modi and Jassy discussed supporting Indian startups, creating jobs, facilitating exports, digital transformation, and empowering individuals and small businesses to compete globally. This announcement follows last month's announcement from Amazon's cloud computing unit (Amazon Web Services) that it would invest ₹1.06 trillion ($12.9 billion) in India by the end of 2030.
