Public Works and Transport Minister Ali Hamieh, in caretaker government, tweeted: "The rapid response carried out by the rescue and firefighting team at the airport tonight in quickly controlling the incidental event caused by the ignition of one wheel of an Italian military cargo plane while taxiing on the runway leading to the aircraft parking area, demonstrates the readiness to handle such incidents despite all the circumstances we are going through."
