American Embassy in Beirut Hosts Elie Saab at Cultural Evening

The ambassador, Dorothy Shea, hosted an evening with Lebanese and international fashion designer and businessman Elie Saab, as part of the "Meet the Artist" series organized by the American Embassy, which highlights renowned Lebanese talents from various artistic fields. The evening provided a glimpse into Saab's inspiration and extensive experience in building a global brand, as well as his vision for the future of Lebanon.

Ambassador Shea noted during the event that Saab has placed "Lebanon on the map of high fashion globally" and "bridged the gap between East and West, connecting them with thread, needle, and exceptional craftsmanship." The evening included a dialogue between Ambassador Shea and Elie Saab, featuring questions from emerging fashion designers, ministers, and influential individuals from the fields of business, culture, and art, in honor of Saab’s four-decade career and his artistic and industrial contributions in Lebanon and worldwide.

Saab explained that despite the challenges he faced since launching his first brand, his relentless efforts, driven by passion and dedication, paved the way for the Middle East's prominence in the global fashion industry. He emphasized the importance of ensuring "that our youth have the opportunity to dream and carve their own path while striving to fulfill their passion."

The "Meet the Artist" series is designed to strengthen relationships between influential Lebanese artists and rising youth in various artistic and cultural fields, providing them with a platform to connect within the artistic community, learn from the experiences of role models, and access exchange programs and funding opportunities offered by the U.S. Department of State.

This evening was the ninth installment of the "Meet the Artist" series, which previously hosted celebrities such as George Khabbaz, Raouf Rifa'i, and Nadim Sharfan from the "Mayyas" troupe.
