Local authorities in Mexico revealed yesterday, Sunday, that "at least 18 people died and 33 others were injured when a bus fell from a height in western Mexico." The attorney general's office in Nayarit state, where the incident occurred, stated, "the bus fell into a ravine from a height of 15 meters, late Saturday on a highway connecting Tepic, the capital of the state, and the tourist destination Puerto Vallarta." They noted, "from the very first moment, we coordinated with various federal and state authorities to provide immediate care for the victims." The authorities reported the deaths of 11 women and seven men. At least 11 minors were transported to hospitals for medical care.
