French Foreign Ministry: Take the Presidential Election Session Seriously

The spokesperson for the French Foreign Ministry, Anne-Claire Legendre, confirmed at a press conference that France urges taking the presidential election session scheduled for tomorrow in Lebanon "seriously and seizing the opportunity it provides to exit the crisis." She emphasized that her country "has been continuously calling for an exit from the crisis for eight months."

She announced that French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna will meet with former Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, who was appointed by French President Emmanuel Macron a few days ago as "special envoy to Lebanon," and that she will inform Le Drian about the recent communications with Lebanese officials.

On another note, the spokesperson mentioned that no date for Le Drian's anticipated visit to Lebanon has "yet been communicated." She affirmed that "it is essential for us to first assess the parliamentary session that will be held tomorrow."
