Bloomberg Agency announced that residents of Britain are experiencing a shortage of chicken eggs, noting that they have almost entirely disappeared from the shelves in some supermarkets. It reported that the outbreak of avian flu in the United States and Europe led to the mass culling of poultry. As a result, eggs topped the list of food shortages in the United States last October, while Hungarian authorities were forced to limit their prices. Analysts pointed out that general food inflation may play a specific role in the egg shortage, as sellers struggling with cash are shifting from meat to cheaper protein sources, including eggs. Additionally, demand for eggs is higher in winter, especially during the holiday season.
