On Wednesday, Turkish coast guard rescued five crew members from a commercial vessel that sank near the Antalya region in southern Turkey. The coast guard is currently searching for nine other missing crew members from the ship that was heading to Ukraine.
The coast guard indicated that the vessel, flying the flag of Guinea-Bissau, had departed from the İskenderun port in Turkey, bound for the Izmail port in Ukraine, and sank about 37 kilometers off the coast of Antalya without specifying the reasons for the sinking.
According to a statement, helicopters and other ships in the area successfully rescued five of the crew members, out of a total of 14, all of whom are Syrian nationals.
