Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Ali Hamieh, shared a video on Twitter, commenting: "The repeated thefts occurring inside airport tunnels (the Kokodi Tunnel and the Ouzai Tunnel) of electrical cables, especially those related to water pumps, have increased outrageously! It should be noted that new cables are currently being installed in the Ouzai Tunnel to replace those that were stolen previously!"
He added, "Our outcry stems from our concern that the tunnels do not flood, preserving the smooth flow of traffic through them. However, the thefts are escalating inside, and the cost of replacement is becoming very high. Everyone must bear their responsibilities before we find ourselves forced to close them and redirect traffic, which will inevitably lead to catastrophic traffic jams."
