Griffith to Visit Sudan Tomorrow

The UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, Abdou Dianj, warned today, Monday, that "the humanitarian crisis there is turning into a 'full-blown disaster' and that the extension of the Sudanese crisis to other countries is a major concern." In a statement to Reuters, he announced that "the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Martin Griffiths, will travel to Sudan tomorrow." Dianj added that "civilians are seeking refuge in areas of Sudan less affected by the fighting or fleeing to neighboring countries." He further noted that "the indirect effects of the crisis regionally are a significant concern."
