Russia: Extension of Grain Deal Under Current Conditions "Impossible"

Russian Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko stated today, Friday, that extending the grain transport agreement across the Black Sea under current conditions is "impossible," according to the Russian news agency "Interfax." Matviyenko said at an economic forum in St. Petersburg, "Our patience has... run out," echoing previous statements from Putin and other Russian officials. She emphasized the importance of avoiding exacerbating the food crisis in poorer countries. The Black Sea agreement allows for the secure export of grain and other products from Ukrainian ports.
