The Iranian Parliament voted today, Sunday, in favor of the dismissal of the Minister of Industry, Reza Fatemi Amin, making him the first member of President Ebrahim Raisi's government to be removed from office since Raisi's election in 2020. This comes amid growing discontent due to the country's economic conditions. Parliament members accused the Minister of Trade and Industry of failing to control the "sharp increase in car prices and the rising cost of industrial production" and criticized him harshly for mismanagement. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stated on state television, "162 out of 272 parliamentarians present at the session voted in favor of the minister's dismissal."
