Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian presidency, expressed his regret over Poland's decision to rename the Russian city of Kaliningrad to "Krolevets," describing the move as closer to madness. The TASS news agency reported Peskov's comments regarding the Polish decision on the naming, as well as the incident where the Russian ambassador in Poland was prevented from honoring the memory of Soviet soldiers on Victory Day over Nazism: "What is happening in Poland is no longer even Russophobia, but actions that approach madness," he stated, indicating that Poland occasionally slips into this madness characterized by its hatred for Russians throughout history. Peskov concluded that this has recurred for many centuries, dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries and even earlier, and that it will not bring any good or positive outcomes for Poland and the Polish people. Earlier, a Polish magazine reported that the Committee for the Unification of Geographical Names outside of Poland decided to use only the Polish name Krolevets to refer to the Russian Kaliningrad.
