Upcoming Meeting for Turkish Finance Minister with Bank Managers

Banking sources indicated that Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek is expected to hold a meeting next week with senior bank managers. Bankers anticipate that the meeting will take place on Thursday of the following week between Şimşek and the member banks of the Turkish Banking Association. A senior banker stated, "This is a meeting that should naturally take place." He added that similar meetings have been held after the appointment of Treasury ministers and related ministers in the past. Two sources mentioned that a general assessment of the banking sector and current economic challenges is expected to be discussed with the minister.
