A decree published today, Monday, stated that the King of Cambodia has approved the government’s nomination of Hun Manet, the eldest son of long-time Prime Minister Hun Sen, to take over the position from his father. Hun Sen will step down after holding the office for 38 years. The appointment of General Hun Manet as Prime Minister requires approval from the newly elected National Assembly, which is expected to occur within this month.
