Pakistan expressed significant optimism following discussions held by the army chief and the interior minister in the Iranian capital, Tehran, aimed at reviving negotiations and reaching diplomatic understandings between the United States and Iran.
Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi stated that the meeting with Iranian President Masoud Bazeskiyan "concluded on a very positive note."
He clarified that "substantial progress" was achieved in talks with Iranian leaders.
This marks Naqvi's first statement upon returning from Tehran, accompanied by a delegation that included Army Chief General Asim Munir.
The Pakistani Interior Minister mentioned, "We are discussing with Iran reactivating the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding to resolve the conflict."
The Pakistani official highlighted that the talks with Iran focused on tensions in the Middle East and the pursuit of peace.
In a separate statement, the Pakistani army announced that Army Chief General Asim Munir discussed with Iran ways to "prevent further escalation."
The Pakistani army, on Tuesday, noted that Munir conducted discussions with Iran centered on measures to prevent further conflict escalation and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The statement added that Munir discussed "regional peace and ways to achieve conflict resolution through negotiation," without delving into further details about the outcomes.
