Civil defense officials in Brazil announced on Saturday that a residential building collapsed in the northeastern part of the country, resulting in the deaths of 14 people, with the body of the last missing person found.
The collapse occurred on Friday in the Ganga neighborhood on the outskirts of Recife, the capital of the northeastern state of Pernambuco. The building fell during heavy rains in the area, while many residents were still asleep.
According to a statement from civil defense, three people survived the collapse, the causes of which are still unclear.
