United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged Israel to halt what he described as "concerning decisions regarding settlement activities" in the occupied West Bank and to reverse them. UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq stated in a statement: "The Secretary-General reiterates that settlements are a flagrant violation of international law; they are a major obstacle to achieving a viable two-state solution and a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace." He emphasized that "the expansion of these unlawful settlements is a major driver of tension and violence, significantly increasing humanitarian needs."
