France Bans Gathering of Iranian Opposition Due to Threats

France has banned a planned gathering for the Iranian opposition due to a threat of an attack, according to a letter sent to the protest organizers. The gathering was scheduled to take place following the release of an Iranian diplomat convicted of orchestrating an attack in 2018. The ban comes at a time when Western powers are seeking to de-escalate tensions with Iran and just weeks after Tehran released several Europeans from its prisons, including two French citizens.
