Cyprus Police Arrest 21 People

The Cypriot police arrested 21 people on Monday following violent clashes involving migrants and residents in the western part of the island, which has a large number of asylum seekers. The police stated, "Both migrants and local residents were among those arrested after a second night of disturbances in the village of Chlorakas, about 155 kilometers west of the capital Nicosia." The clashes occurred after a peaceful protest by migrants on Sunday against the violence inflicted by masked individuals, which damaged properties and vehicles owned by non-Cypriots.
