The Russian newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda" reported that the son of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Nikolai Peskov, stated in an interview published on Saturday that he fought in Ukraine under an assumed name, serving as an artilleryman in the Russian private military group Wagner. Nikolai Peskov, 33, indicated that he served in Ukraine, marking a rare public example of the child of a senior Russian official participating in the war.
During the interview, Nikolai said, "It was my initiative... I considered it my duty," noting that he spent less than half a year of his contract using an alias to conceal his true identity. He added, "I believe my father Dmitry Peskov is proud of me... He told me that I made the right decision." Furthermore, Wagner founder Yevgeny Prigozhin confirmed that Dmitry Peskov had contacted him, requesting to enlist his son in the group as an artillery soldier.
