The Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the city of Mariupol, which is under Russian control in Donbas. It was clarified that Putin inspected several facilities in the city and spoke with local residents. The statement indicated that "the Russian president arrived in Mariupol by helicopter, then drove around various areas of the city, stopping to speak with residents in the 'Nevsky' neighborhood."
The Kremlin revealed that discussions included plans for the construction of new small residential areas, social and educational facilities, as well as community service infrastructure and medical institutions. Additionally, Putin inspected the coastal line in Mariupol, particularly the "Yacht Club" area and the "Theater Building," among other locations in the city. He also held a meeting in "Rostov-on-Don" at the command center for the special military operation.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin detailed for Putin the progress made in construction and restoration work in the city and its suburbs. This marks Putin's first visit since the onset of the Russian military operation in Ukraine. It is noteworthy that Moscow has controlled Mariupol since May of last year.
