A delegation from the European Commission in Cairo confirmed that the European Union and the French Development Agency have agreed to provide facilities to Egypt worth €60 million (approximately $66 million) to increase storage capacity for grain silos. A representative from the delegation stated that "the funding aims to increase storage capacity by at least 420,000 tons, most of which will be for wheat and possibly other grains." This will lead to an increase in Egypt's current wheat storage capacity, which is approximately 3.5 million tons, by about 12%.
