The Russian news agency TASS reported today that Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated that Russia hopes to reach an agreement to supply gas to China by the end of the year, via the planned "Power of Siberia 2" pipeline. Novak said, "Currently, the final touches are being put on the contract terms between Gazprom and the China National Petroleum Corporation, and a feasibility study is already underway, with the gas pipeline being designed to pass through Mongolian territory." He added, "We hope, and are confident that our companies will reach an agreement by the end of the year and will sign the contract."
