European Stocks Decline

European stocks fell at the open on Wednesday, led by losses in the real estate sector amid rising yields on eurozone bonds, while data confirming persistent high inflation in the UK caused stocks to decline on the London Stock Exchange. By 07:16 GMT, the European "Stoxx 600" index was down 0.1 percent. The UK’s "FTSE 100" index, which is heavily weighted by exporter stocks, dropped 0.4 percent following a spike in the British pound after the release of inflation data. The real estate sector index fell by 1.3 percent. Investors are now awaiting testimony from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell before Congress.
