Iraqi Foreign Ministry Summons Swedish Ambassador to Protest Quran Burning

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry summoned the Swedish ambassador to Iraq on Thursday and condemned, in a statement, "the Swedish government's allowance for extremists to burn a copy of the Holy Quran." The ministry noted via its Twitter account that the individual who insulted the Quran is of Iraqi nationality. It demanded "the Swedish authorities to hand him over to the Iraqi government for trial under Iraqi law." Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Dr. Ahmed Al-Sahhaf stated: "The person who insulted the Holy Quran is of Iraqi nationality, so we demand the Swedish authorities to hand him over to the Iraqi government for trial under Iraqi law."
