The UK Information Office imposed a financial penalty on TikTok today, amounting to £12.7 million ($15.88 million) due to multiple violations of data protection law, including the use of personal data of children under 13 years old without parental consent. The office stated that the video-sharing app, owned by a Chinese company, failed to take adequate measures to verify the identity of users on the platform and remove users who are underage.
