Loss of 4 People in Fire on Russian Fishing Vessel off South Korea

The South Korean Coast Guard reported this morning, Friday, that a fire broke out on a Russian fishing vessel carrying 25 people in the southeastern coastal city of Ulsan, resulting in the loss of 4 people. It was clarified that the 769-ton vessel was carrying 100 tons of seafood in waters off Ulsan, approximately 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul, and was en route to Russia when the fire ignited at 12:43 AM. All crew members are Russian.

After receiving an emergency call, the Coast Guard dispatched rescue ships to the site, managing to save 21 individuals, 19 of whom were uninjured and two sustained minor injuries. According to the Yonhap News Agency, with assistance from naval ships, authorities continue to search for the four missing individuals and work to extinguish the flames.
