MP Jamil Sayyed Reveals Countries Interested in Lebanon

MP Jamil Sayyed pointed out that the countries interested in Lebanon are Saudi Arabia, the United States, and France, emphasizing that each country views the situation from a different perspective. In an interview with "LBC," Sayyed stated that the Americans have a problem with a president similar to former President Michel Aoun in his relationship with Hezbollah, while Saudi Arabia has no specific preference and the Shiite duo does not want a president who undermines their influence.

He also considered that the president should have two roles: first, to understand how to manage the strategic role and strategic balances in Lebanon, and second, to ensure internal reassurance for everyone, not just for Hezbollah. Regarding the issue of Syrian refugees, Sayyed revealed that the representative of the European Union and ambassadors from 18 countries stated that the conditions are not conducive for the return of refugees to their homeland. He added, "The Syrian crisis has created a political class in Lebanon, and a quarter of the Lebanese population consists of Syrians. Additionally, there is also smuggling between Lebanon and Israel, and the reason for the Syrians' continued presence in Lebanon is that they are being financially supported to stay."
