Iraq Purchases 150,000 Tons of Australian Wheat

European traders believed today, Thursday, that "Iraq's state grain buyer has acquired about 150,000 tons of wheat, expected to be sourced from Australia in an international tender that closed yesterday, Wednesday, with a limited number of participants." The traders noted that "the wheat was purchased at an estimated price of $387 per ton, including costs and shipping," pointing out that "the tender sought wheat sourced from the United States, Australia, or Canada." The Iraqi Ministry of Trade announced on March 25 that "Iraq expects to import between 600,000 and one million tons of wheat if this year's harvest achieves its target of four million tons." It was reported that "Australian Grain Export" is the seller. These results reflect traders' assessments, and additional estimates for prices and volumes may be available later.
