Israeli Defense Minister: Judicial Amendment Law Must Be Stopped

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant called on the government to stop the judicial amendment law, stating that the bitter dispute surrounding it in Israel poses a direct threat to the country's security. In a brief televised statement, he noted that the escalating internal division is seeping into the military and defense institutions, which presents a clear, direct, and real danger to Israel's security. Massive protests have swept across Israel since the government announced its judicial plans in January. Gallant previously expressed concerns about a wave of refusals from Israelis to respond to reserve call-ups if the amendments proceed, saying that this could weaken the state of war readiness and national cohesion.
