The temperature in Beijing exceeded 40 degrees Celsius today, Thursday, for the first time since 2014, setting a new record for the hottest day in June. The meteorological station recorded a temperature of 40.7 degrees Celsius at 2:30 PM local time (06:30 GMT). The city, home to around 22 million residents, issued an orange alert, the second-highest weather warning level, warning that temperatures could rise to 39 degrees Celsius in most parts of the city from today until Saturday.
