The Ministry of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, indicated today, Thursday, that an explosion occurred in a residential building in the city of Ratingen, resulting in the injury of two police officers and several firefighters. A police spokesperson stated that officers and firefighters were called to rescue a person in danger, and upon their arrival, an explosion occurred at the apartment door. German television station ZDF reported that ten firefighters and two police officers were injured, and security sources did not rule out that the attack could have been intentional. ZDF explained that German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser would issue a statement regarding the incident later.
