Following the outbreak of chaos and the security situation spiraling out of control, Israeli President Isaac Herzog called on the government today, Monday, to halt the controversial judicial amendments. This plea came a day after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed his Defense Minister for opposing the reforms, which sparked massive protests in the streets. Herzog tweeted, "For the unity of the people of Israel and for responsibility, I urge you to immediately stop the legislative procedures."
Israeli media reported that security unit 730 evacuated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's family to the Shin Bet headquarters in Jerusalem as demonstrators stormed the barriers around his home. It was stated that "Israel's security is in clear and immediate danger, and all leaders of the security establishment must speak out loudly about this," adding that "there is rampant chaos near Netanyahu's home, and the situation has seemingly gone out of control."
Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid observed that "the protests will not stop until Netanyahu's government withdraws the judicial amendments."
