Residents of Utah, Oregon, and Nevada in the United States have complained about swarms of "Mormon crickets" that have covered roads, homes, and agricultural crops, causing widespread panic among the population.
Various local media outlets reported that "the lives of residents are at risk due to the invasion of crickets that resemble locusts," noting that within days, the crickets have invaded roads, fields, and buildings in a new incursion in Nevada, which experienced a similar situation in 2019.
Business owners and residents mentioned that they are "struggling against the swarms of crickets that descended on the state this week, attempting to save the land and agriculture in the country."
One resident of Elko, Nevada, told USA Today: "They look like spiders; the situation is extremely dangerous, and the authorities must act to find solutions to this phenomenon. Agricultural crops are at risk."
