China's President Calls for a "Strong Security Barrier" Around the Country's Internet

Chinese President Xi Jinping stated today that his country "must establish a strong security barrier around its internet, under the supervision of the ruling Communist Party," in his latest calls for the protection of data and information online. Xi added, "China must continue to manage, operate, and ensure internet access in accordance with the law," during instructions given to officials at a two-day meeting on cybersecurity that concluded today in Beijing.
