The Greek fire brigade announced the discovery of 18 burned bodies in a remote rural area south of the village of Avantas in northern Greece on Tuesday, where wildfires have been raging for days. Greek media reported that the bodies are believed to belong to migrants. The wider Evros region is a common route for migrants crossing the river of the same name from Turkey into Greece.
