An informed source told Reuters on Sunday that China has not yet provided a "conducive response" regarding reaching a common understanding with the G20 on the issue of restructuring debts of poor countries.
The source explained that G20 countries are also not in favor of "working under a unified rule that applies to everyone" concerning the debt restructuring of these countries.
Finance ministers from the G20 are scheduled to meet in Gandhinagar, India, over the next two days to discuss various matters, including addressing the debts of countries under what is termed the common framework, an initiative by the G20 to assist poor countries in deferring their debt payments.
Last month, Zambia reached a deal to restructure $6.3 billion in debts owed to foreign governments, including China, which was seen as a breakthrough for poor countries facing crisis.
