Dr. Joe Saloum, the head of the pharmacists' syndicate, confirmed in response to the arrest of someone forging dietary supplements at the judicial branch in Baabda that "he has been following the issue from the beginning with the investigators in Baabda, as well as with the judges in charge of the investigation. He encourages them to go all the way in arresting all forms of forgery and smugglers of medicine or dietary supplements." He appealed in a statement for "pharmacists not to purchase any medicine or dietary supplement not registered with the Ministry of Health, and to scrutinize the matter as much as possible. He also urged the Ministry of Health to crack down on all violations, especially in illegal places selling medicine and dietary supplements without oversight, which threaten the lives of citizens." It is noted that "A.R." forged and replicated a dietary supplement and distributed it in Lebanon without obtaining a license from the Ministry of Public Health, and without adhering to the globally mandated standards for drug manufacturing. They printed the license number granted by the Ministry of Health to the original importing company on the packaging of the forged medicine.
