Australian police reported on Monday that at least ten people died and 25 others were injured after a hired bus carrying wedding guests slipped off a slope at a bend in the road in the Hunter region of New South Wales. The incident occurred around 11:30 PM (13:30 GMT) on Sunday near the town of Greta, approximately 180 kilometers northwest of Sydney, in an area known for its vineyards and wedding venues. Tracy Chapman, acting Assistant Commissioner of New South Wales Police, stated during a televised press briefing, "As I understand, they were together at a wedding and were likely traveling together to their accommodation." The police indicated that some individuals might be trapped under the bus, which was overturned on its side. The police have arrested the 58-year-old bus driver, who is expected to face charges related to the incident. He was taken to the hospital for mandatory checks. Thick fog covered the area at the time of the accident, but Chapman noted that the cause of the incident has yet to be determined. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed his "deep sympathy" for the families of the deceased and injured.
