Tesla plans to implement significant changes at its largest factory in Europe, located near Berlin, including an increase in battery cell production. This indicates that plans to enhance the factory's output are still underway, despite a recent shift in focus towards expansion in the United States. In February, Tesla announced that it was assembling battery units at its German factory and preparing to produce cells, but it has not begun this yet as it has been focusing on cell production in the United States due to subsidies provided under the Inflation Reduction Act. Tesla aims to double its battery production capacity to 100 gigawatt-hours and produce one million vehicles annually, positioning the factory's output to surpass that of Volkswagen's facility in Wolfsburg. Currently, the company produces about 5,000 vehicles weekly at its Grünheide factory near Berlin but has not provided a timeline for the increase in production.
