Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez urged Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday to engage with Ukrainian leadership and learn directly about Kyiv's peace formula to help end the Russian operation. Sánchez stated at a press conference in Beijing that he informed Jinping, who visited Moscow on March 20 and 21, that Spain supports the proposals of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. These proposals include demands for restoring Ukrainian territories to their status before Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014. He added, "I believe it is a plan that lays the foundations for lasting peace in Ukraine and aligns perfectly with the United Nations Charter and its principles, which have been violated by Russian President Vladimir Putin through his invasion," expressing his concerns over the unlawful attack on Ukraine. Last month, Beijing proposed a 12-point plan on a political solution to the war in Ukraine, which included a northern ceasefire in the conflict. However, the plan also surprised some European Union officials in China for failing to state that the aggressor in the conflict is Russia.
