Cypriot authorities have thwarted an attack that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard was planning against Israelis in Cyprus, according to reports published in local media on Sunday. Local media indicated that the attack aimed to kill Jews and was orchestrated by intelligence agencies linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. According to sources, the operation to prevent the potential assassinations was carried out in cooperation with Cypriot intelligence and Western partners, including Israeli and American intelligence agencies.
The report stated that after the arrest of an Azerbaijani suspect two years ago, who held a Russian passport and was working on behalf of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Cypriot intelligence had been closely monitoring potential threats over the past few months. It was reported that the terrorist network sent its recruits from the Turkish-controlled northern part of Cyprus.
