A parliamentary committee in Britain has concluded that former Prime Minister Boris Johnson should be barred from entering Parliament due to his deliberate misleading of MPs regarding violations of lockdown rules during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically related to parties held in his office. Johnson described the report as "nonsense."
The report revealed that "Johnson deliberately misled Parliament on several occasions when questioned about gatherings at the British government headquarters during the COVID-19 lockdown." The committee stated in the report: "We concluded that Mr. Johnson committed a serious contempt by intentionally misleading Parliament. We recommend that he should not be entitled to the former members' access permission," referring to the allowance for former prime ministers to enter Parliament.
The committee also accused Johnson of "colluding in a campaign of harassment and intimidation." In response, Johnson claimed he is innocent, labeling the report as "nonsense," "a lie," and "a hoax," and accused committee members of launching a revenge campaign against him.
