First Canadian Evacuation Plane Takes Off from Israel with 130 Passengers

Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair indicated on Thursday that "the first Canadian military aircraft to evacuate citizens from Israel has taken off from Tel Aviv with 130 passengers on board." Canadian officials noted on Wednesday that "700 individuals have reached out to the Foreign Ministry to request to leave Israel following the attack by Hamas." Canada is utilizing two Airbus aircraft to transport people from Israel to Athens. "We’re working tirelessly to assist Canadians in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza. I can confirm that the first @CanadianForces evacuation flight has departed from Tel Aviv with approximately 130 passengers on board. We will continue to be there for Canadians who need help," Blair tweeted on October 12, 2023.
