The Minister of Agriculture in the caretaker government, Abbas al-Hajj Hassan, announced on the "X" application the confiscation of a large quantity of wild animals and birds, including ornamental birds that entered Lebanese territory from Syria through an illegal crossing, under the supervision of the competent judiciary, Internal Security Forces, and the Ministry of Agriculture.
In coordination with the Batroun police station on September 29, 2023, a large number of wild animals and ornamental birds were seized, including 350 goldfinches and more than 1,350 ornamental birds of various species, in addition to an imperial eagle and two lion cubs. This quantity had entered Lebanese territory from Syria through an illegal crossing.
