A spokesperson for the German Ministry of Defense stated on Sunday that Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has canceled a planned visit to Iraq and Jordan, citing security concerns following the burning of the Swedish embassy in Baghdad last week in protest against the burning of the Quran. The spokesperson explained that Pistorius’ visit, which was supposed to last several days, was also a response to violent protests against a Danish non-governmental organization in Iraq. He added, "The likelihood of further protests in the coming days led German security forces to advise canceling the visit," noting that it will be rescheduled for a later time, potentially in the fourth quarter of the year.
