Italian racer Francesco Bagnaia secured pole position in the Italian Grand Prix of the MotoGP World Championship on Saturday, despite his anger and frustration over Honda's Marc Marquez pursuing him at the Mugello circuit. It is evident that the excitement and competition between them made them the first two riders to break the 1-minute and 45-second barrier at Mugello, with Bagnaia setting a lap record of 1 minute and 44.855 seconds.
Marquez commented, "Being on the front row at Mugello is not easy, I wasn't looking for Bagnaia... but he decided to stop in front of me and talk to me." He added, "Someone gave me the opportunity to follow Bagnaia and I did. We achieved our goal; it wasn't the front row... it was one of the top nine positions."
